Self serve???

Today I was concerned as there would be only 2 staff on tonight to cover 4 department, furniture, house wares,domestics, fabrics and crafts. These 2 ladies have also been working there for only 2 months. When I expressed my concern to the manager on duty I was told, and I quote, “They will be fine, those are really self serve departments anyway.” I am sure my job dropped.

So if they are self serve then why am I needed? Why am I constantly busy helping these self serve customers and cleaning up after them and answering their questions? Not to mention stopping some from stealing as they like to go to those departments and hide the packaging from the items they are stealing.

I think the truth is closer to, they are so money hungry that they don’t care if the others are over worked and thefts happen. Because the profit goes up when the salaries go down.
