Changes

My son has lost a tooth and may lose another….. He had an accident which will cause a permanent change. Life can sometimes have such quick and yet such altering consequences. One minute you are ok and then next bang…..you have lost something precious. As we waited, and waited in the emergency room, I looked about me at the others who were waiting. There were police there taking statements from people over a school fight that turned nasty, an old man who was on oxygen, others who just looked miserable to be there. My son was the only one (other then our fight victim) who had obvious injuries. We live in a small city in Canada, so we don’t get a lot of violent crime victims coming through our emergency room. This fight at the school was about the biggest news of the day and no weapons were involved. But back to my son, who sat there bleeding until someone finally got us and put some stitches in, was quite a brave guy. He is healing now and has some more dental work to live through and he has become inventive on ways to eat without chewing.
