White Christmas?

I live in the great white north (south of the arctic though) and every year there is snow on the ground at this time of year. I have come to expect it. Well this year they are saying no snow for Christmas. Finally last night we got a light powdering of snow but the temperatures are rising and they predict it will be too warm by the 24th. This reminds me of the Christmas I spent on Vancouver Island, there was no snow for that Christmas either. It just seemed odd to me. I have always put the 2 things together. I know that in Australia they are having a heat wave and they spend their Christmas’ s on the beach and for them, having snow and cold would seem odd. I wonder what the southern hemisphere, not to mention the tropics would think of all those American movies like “White Christmas”, or “Holiday Inn”, just to name a few.
