Encouragment has it's perks

Yesterday at work I turned to one gal when she had made yet another funny crack.

I so enjoy her giggles. I told her that she was one of the bright sparks of my day.

she gave me such a bear hug and we both grinned and tears filled the eyes.

I gave her heart felt words of encouragement and received such a warm affirmation in return.

Later that day, I was talking to another friend at work. I was helping her get something done and told her that if she ever felt over whelmed to come and find me. I want to help and I want her to succeed. This too was received by a warm bear hug and tears.

I wonder if we as people would be more prone to encourage others if we understood how good it felt for not only the receiver but the giver.

Of course those words have to be sincere or else it is empty and trite and often falls flat.

I like to be encouraged and love to encourage others.

It just feels so good.
