Easter

Easter, the Sunday of the Resurrection, Pascha, or Resurrection Day, is the most important religious feast of the Christian liturgical year, observed at some point between late March and late April each year (early April to early May in Eastern Christianity). It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which his followers believe occurred on the third day (counting inclusively) after his death by crucifixion some time in the period AD 27 to 33 (see Good Friday). This year it fell on April 8, 2007.

There is the dictionary definition but I wonder what it means to each of you.

I have been thinking this weekend as I have been home sick and had time to think between coughing and sleeping.

What does it all mean to me?

Has the meaning for me changed over the years? Yes, I would say it has. Much like the meaning of Christmas has changed for me over the years.

I heard it said this morning that there is a Jewish rabbi out there who wonders why Christians are not a lot more happy about Easter. Why we tend to be so morbid.

I wonder also what he means by morbid?

I know on Good Friday I always have very mixed feelings, a sadness and a mourning but mixed with anticipation.

That anticipation is brought to rejoicing once Sunday arrives in the rejoicing together.

Hear the bells ringing

They're singing that we can be born again

Here the bells ringing Christ is risen from the dead

The angel upon the the tombstone

said He is risen just like He said

Quickly now Go tell His disciples that

Jesus Christ is no longer dead.

Joy to the world He is Risen Halelujah

He is risen Hallelujah

He is risen Hallelujah Hallelujah!
