Faith - a sermon
This morning in church I heard another sermon on faith but this time I sat up and listened because a point was brought out in such a way that it made me look at faith a little closer.
Many times I have read the verse in Hebrews that defines faith.
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1 NIV
He spoke of how our faith is to be based upon or founded on God's promises. God keeps His promises.
Faith is not making demands upon God but being confident that He will do what He said He will do.
He also challenged us to go home and read the Bible to find all of God's promises.
This brings me back to one of my favorite verse,
" Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path."
This also reminds me of a song.
"I know where I'm going and I know who's going with me.."
That sure and certain knowledge is the faith that is spoken of in Herews. I know where I am going because God said He would take me there.
