change of plans
Now I find out that there will be no aunt or uncle or Japanese salad for Sunday dinner. Sigh.
Though I did ask if I could get the recipe so I can try to make it one day.
My dad also has misplaced the key to my uncle's house where they stay when they visit here, so I may be getting a new key delivered here for them.
It's kind of sad you know, I have this aunt and uncle not to mention a couple of cousins in town and we never see each other but maybe once or twice a year when we need something from each other.
I remember when I was a kid that my mom used to have friends or relatives over all the time for coffee or a meal, but in those days she did not work outside the home.
But when you have to work, you are too tired most nights to put together a meal for even your family never mind guests.
We may have more but we seem to have less time for fun.
Sad really.

I’d never thought about it like that. My mum used to have friends and family over all the time and I thought we would be the same. I don’t think it’s just because we work but also because others have changed their priorities and are trying to keep up with all the commitments that they undertake.
Some of the families who have children in my class are out almost every night, then all weekend with extra-curricula stuff – dancing, singing, soccer…..
But we do seem to have more and yet less time for fun.
