My baby is 18 today

My baby is 18 today.

Was it not just a few short days ago that he was born on one of the hottest days of the year? We also had a storm that day and the tree in our front yard was hit by lightening, it came down and took out part of the roof. So John did not home right away, he first stayed in a hotel room until our house was livable again.

But back to the day. He was only 5 pounds and 18 inches long but even then he was a fighter to survive. We almost did not get to the hospital in time and I remember each part of that journey as if it just happened.

I remember clearly each of my precious childrens' births.

Funny how I can forget what I did last week but those high moments in life you never forget. Hubby's and my first date, his propsal, our wedding day, the arrival of each child, those are the precious memories I never want to lose.

I may not have any babies left in my house but they are still all there locked up in my mind so that I can bring them out any time I want to or need to.

Those special moments like the day John sold his grandpa pieces of wood (I knew then he'd be a great salesman one day). The day he ran outside all excited after 40 days of rain to see the sun, grinning from ear to ear yelling,"LOOK!" as he pointed skyward.

His first bike ride, his first day of school. Now we move to a new chapter as he works out and grows into the man he wants to be.

My boy, my baby.(pass the kleenx)
