My Life as a SITCOM
This evening I was watching 2 Canadian based sitcoms, one from a small town in Saskatchewan and the other from a small town in northern British Columbia.
I got to thinking, which can be a bad habit, what my life would be like on TV.
Here I am a 40 something mother of 3 who each have their own very different personalities and quirks, and the wife of a fellow who somehow keeps going in spite of difficulties.
And of course the scene stealer, the dog.
In my sitcom, I work at a large department store only because I have to but my dream is to be more independantly wealthy so I can do volunteer work and be more at home.
So each week there could be the crazy things that happen at work with customers and amongst the staff (who are a whole differnet breed) and then there could be the scenes which take place at home amongst the comings and goings of a family of 5.
Take today for example.
It's my first day of a week off work, but where do I end up in the late afternoon? shopping at the very store I work at.
Earlier in the afternoon I take all 3 kids (young adults) with me for some errands they want to do. It is very hot outside and even hotter in the van. The fan stopped working last week and so we have windows rolled down and people melting slowly into their seats. I pray for no red lights so that the breeze does not slow down.
I did not take into account the construction, nor the fact that it is not only a saturday, but also Canada Day so many of the things we want to do are not do-able.
After everyone gets cranky, I pick up lunch (it's 3pm) and we take it home to eat. This of course means supper happens about 9 pm. Which is ok as I ended up napping on the couch in an akward fetal position for a couple of hours and only woke up after 8pm.
So now everyone is fed, the left overs are put in the fridge and now I can start the laundry which brings me down stairs and I have an excuse to type on the computer.
Maybe my show would be a little bit of "Frazier", a little bit "Doogie Howser", a little "That Girl" and a bit of "Corner Gas".

And what about communications with your wonderful friends from across the world?? Do we feature somehow in this sitcom with you?
I was going to comment on your last post about people who shop when hot and cranky and yet, were you in the same boat as your customers today?
Don’t you know that the best time to shop is when it’s hot cause you get to shop in airconditioned buildings?
Although I guess from your perspective, the people are already hot tempered so they bring that in and use it before they’ve had time to see your smiling face and cool down.
