The Storm

It began with just lightening and thunder as the clouds gathered.

The air was thick with humidity. After a bit the rain began to fall, it fell harder and harder, the wind began to grow in speed the lightening lit up the sky 5, 6 times before the thunder caught up with it. Then the hail began to fall, about pea size.

Fortunately that did not last long. Still the wind grew fiercer as the rain pelted down bouncing off the sidewalk until the sidewalk, the lawns and even the streets were nothing more then rolling waves of water. It lasted most of the night and we only fell asleep from exhaustion.

The next morning the rain stopped, but several hours later the pavement was still wet from the nights onslot. I live in a semi desert area where we can get some small storms this time of year but nothing can compare to that one 3 nights ago.

We still had storms the following 2 days but not near the intensity of that first night.

  1. That sounds pretty scary. Was anything damaged?
