Winter wonderland?

We had a hint of snow today but nothing is staying yet. I like the look of white snow, I just wish winter was not so cold and did not include ice. I like to look out side at the blanket of white while I sit warm inside drinking my hot chocolate. I like to go outside for a while when it is not really cold and walk a bit or build a snowman. I love to see all the Christmas lights on the houses and trees lighting up the night. The sparkle makes me feel warm inside, it brings back memories of Christmas. The anticipation, the excitement, the preparations. The secrets, the giggles , wrapping up the treasures for others and wondering what your stocking will hold. But there are also those special memories of candle light services, singing carols in the street, the concerts, the plays, the years I was an angel and the first year I was able to have a speaking part as Mary. The times we sat around the tree and listened to someone read from Luke 2…. “Unto you this day in the city of David a Saviour is born…” As a mother I sometimes wonder what was going on in Mary’s mind through the months before and after this miraculous birth. The fears, the joys, the excitement, the anticipation, the wonder, who would be this child? This Emmanuel, God with us.
