Birthday

This is the birthday of my first born.

I still remember that day and still recall her father's first words,

"She's got fingernails and everything!"

I remember thinking how precious this little miracle was that God had given to us and also the weight of the responsability of raising this precious bundle of joy.

My mother became a grandmother that day and she and hubby went off shopping and came back with far too many new born dresses but the look of sheer joy on their faces was not to be missed!

She was the child that everything happened to for the first time. We learned as we went and somehow she has turned out to be a beautiful person in spite of our mistakes. Her sister and brother have benifitted from the lessons we learned while raising her and she taught me so much about a child's honest view on life.

Now she is a much loved friend and not a child any more. Part of me misses the child because it makes me feel old but I am anticipating the future as our relationship continues to blossom.

  1. Happy birthday to your dear daughter.
Thanks for sharing this – it’s a very precious thing to be a parent and to enjoy all the “seasons” that God gives us with our children.
    Beautiful!
