Yet another Plan......
I had a wise grandpa who was a pastor and when I was going into seminary, he gave me wise words, "Just love your people and let God take care of the rest."
This may sound over simplistic but this was a man who was used by God all his life, because He showed us God's love in everything he did. He loved his people, so he prayed for them, he wept with them, he helped them....
Today I was asked to attend another meeting over a 'new' church growth idea. I have lived through many of these and every time they fell flat on their faces, unless they simply loved people and showed it.
You know when the disciples were around, no one invented programs or had great ideas for church growth, they simply lived their lives and spoke the truth and let God do the rest.
I know I am considered a heritic by many, but I believe I am doing what I should do, I love my people by praying for them, weeping with them and lovingly helping them. Being their friend, and just trying to show them a bit of who God is. Then I leave the rest to God.
