Tired

Here I sit up before I have to be and very tired, why? Because of this deep seated need to read mail and in my own way contact the outside world before I have to start my day. It’s not that I have no other contact with the world around me. I have family in my home, I work with people all day long, and yet there is this pull, this attraction to this machine where I can meet friends and talk about things that matter to me.

I guess in a way this computer has replaced the old fashioned having a friend over for coffee. We don’t do that it seems in this generation, though I do recall as a small child, my mother having a girl friend over a couple of times a week just to chat and catch up with each other. Or she would talk on the phone. We don’t even seem to have time for the phone anymore, yet I will gladly talk live over the net to people in Australia about anything at all. Even just how’s the weather out there?

So now that I have completed my morning ritual I will probably go back to bed for a few minutes as I don’t have to be at work for over 4 hours.
