September

Since the age of 5 September has meant new beginnings and changes that were exciting and yet held some dread in them. This year, I don’t have to worry about school and none of my kids are currently in school so here I am wonder what other new things I can anticipate.

I have been slowly trying out new things and discovered things I like to eat and others I do not. Imagine living into your 40s before you ever taste spinach and discover that you not only like it but it has replaced lettuce in your life.
I have also come to terms with some foods I have discovered I had eaten not because I like them but because you ate what was put in front of you. I will no longer eat anything pork because I don’t like pork!

I have also been trying very hard to let go of some things. To allow my adult and almost adult children to do for themselves without any suggessions from me. I did not think keeping my mouth shut would be so hard. I still want to instintictively herd them all inside the nest and cover them with my wings until the storm passes over. Instead I cover them with prayer and try to only speak when asked.

I don’t know what the future holds but I do anticipate an adventure because life is an adventure!

Discussion

  1. I like spinach but don’t think I would eat it instead of lettuce – in a sandwich, for instance. I don’t think I would like raw spinach.
I have a great recipe for Veal Campagnola (sp?) which uses Spinach and it’s delicious. Just don’t let your 13 yo son tell a friend’s 10 yo son that it’s spinach cause then the F son won’t eat it. (Which means your son gets to eat it which is what he wanted in the 1st place!)
